AHPG856: Egypt in the First Millenium CE |
A study of Egyptian society, economy and culture in the period from the accession of Diocletian to the 7th century. Topics such as the cities, the interaction of cities and their rural surroundings, the structure of society (families, slavery, patronage, and class divisions), literacy (Demotic and the rise of Coptic) and the growth and development of Christianity will be examined.
