BIOL360: Biology of Australasian Mammals

In this unit, the lectures will include a survey of Australasian mammal species, biogeography, ecology, genetics, nutrition, anatomy, reproductive biology, immunology, conservation, evolution, population management and behaviour. The practical will centre on reproduction, behaviour, welfare requirements, field studies, handling in captivity and population modelling. Lectures will be given weekly as shown in the timetable. Practical work, for both internal and external students, will be carried out in block practical sessions in the Macquarie University Fauna Park and at selected field sites in the Sydney area.
