ECH226: Infancy and Early Development |
The development of infants and young children aged 0-3 years within the Australian social context. Theories and research which attempt to describe and explain early childhood development and individual differences are critically examined. Implications for the prenatal, cognitive, social/emotional, language and motor development during the first three years of life are examined. Assessment in this unit requires students to spend time with an infant and a very young child in order to observe various aspects of development.
