GEOS262: Australians and their Environment |
This is a general education unit.
Geographical perspectives on the Australian environment and human reactions to it and interactions with it. A number of major themes will be examined: the physical environment as a resource and as a limiting factor; use and abuse of the Australian environment, concentrating on the roles of pastoralism, agriculture and mining; Australia's distinctive urban system and its environmental context; and perceptions of and attitudes towards the Australian environment. Contemporary controversies concerning human-environment issues will be treated in context.
