LAW443: Macquarie Legal Centre Clinical Program |
This unit is a partnership between Macquarie Law and Macquarie Legal Centre, a community legal centre. Each program offers an opportunity for a selected group of senior students to participate in community-based legal practice. You can find out more about the Macquarie Legal Centre at its website: www.macquarielegal.org.au. Linking legal theory with practice is the most important step for a law graduate. Most law firms spend large amounts of time and money training law graduates to be able to apply their knowledge of the law, learned in law schools, to the practice of law. To have experience in this important link between theory and practice will stand you in good stead for the rest of your career whether it be in the legal profession or in a profession allied to the law. The unit involves attendance at the Centre for an induction session as well as 10 placement days. Students will be assessed on the basis of their placement work, including a Reflective Journal, as well as an assignment on a topic arising from the placement experience.
