LAW512: Law of International Organisations |
Examines the interplay of international law, relations, diplomacy and politics in inter-governmental activities administered by formal institutional structures. The unit is devoted only to inter-governmental organisations, both global and regional. Whilst the major emphasis is placed on the UN system, regional organisations with a priority to Europe will be covered. The constitutional and structural composition, functions and objectives are analysed to appraise their respective achievements in providing an effective international organisational system. Could we derive from these experiences any new lessons worthy of imitation that may contribute to the maintenance of a stable world order?
