LAW522: Advanced Torts |
This unit will focus on developing areas in the law of torts, exploring a range of issues on a thematic/interests basis. Themes will include: medicine and health (wrongful life/wrongful birth, consent and refusal, professional negligence, interface between law and medicine, tobacco, alcohol and drug related injuries); dignitary and discriminatory injuries (defamation, privacy, emotional well-being, sexual harassment); torts and environment, including toxic torts; sports torts; educational/school torts; and compensation. Students taking this unit will work in teams, and the theory and practice of effective teamwork and development of appropriate generic skills will be an essential component of the unit.
