This unit explores some of the major debates and issues surrounding contemporary media. It begins by considering questions of technologies and convergence, of globalisation and pluralisation. It then examines some ways of thinking about media audiences. The unit concludes by focusing on regulation of the media and discussing questions of policies, institutions and ownership.
