PHIL359: Kant

This unit examines Kant's transcendental philosophy through a study of his major work, the 'Critique of Pure Reason'. We discuss Kant's conception of experience, his account of the relationship between experience and the world, and his understanding of the method of a genuinely 'critical' philosophy. The unit also considers how the 'Critique of Pure Reason' became such a crucial point of reference for 19th and 20th century philosophy - in both 'analytic' and 'continental' traditions.
