TEP424: English in the Secondary School II |
This unit extends the work covered in TEP423. There is a particular emphasis on the development of strategies for responding to, and composing, a range of types of texts, enhancing independent learning skills, and planning for assessment across a variety of language modes. The key elements embedded in the new Stages 4/5 and Stage 6 NSW English syllabuses are examined within a teaching/learning context. Workshops will also cover current professional issues in English curriculum such as the teaching and learning of visual literacy, technology in the English classroom, and the diverse needs of students in a changing world. All work is linked to school experience in TEP416.
