This unit describes techniques for assigning probabilities to events, especially those based on combinatorial techniques. Topics will include: permutations and combinations; computation by enumeration of equally likely cases; combination of probabilities; Bayes' theorem; application of calculus to probability; recurrence relations; probability-generating functions; Markov chains.
