BIOL347: Australian and World Vegetation |
This unit provides an understanding of natural vegetation resources and the tools to implement sustainable vegetation management. Topics include: an overview of Australian and world vegetation, classification and description of vegetation, vegetation distribution and structure in relation to environmental factors such as climate and soil type, methods for describing, monitoring, sampling and mapping vegetation, vegetation dynamics, vegetation management within a landscape context, future of vegetation with climate change and landscape fragmentation, rehabilitation of vegetation. Laboratory and field work are important components of the unit.
