EDUC105: Education: The Psychological Context |
EDUC105 and EDUC106 provide the foundations to further studies in the School of Education.
This unit is primarily concerned with the psychology of the learning-teaching process. It includes a study of student characteristics such as cognitive development, and environmental factors such as the role of teachers and schools in student learning. The unit focuses on development among school-aged learners, but broader applications to lifelong learning are also considered. Those who have a general interest in human development and learning processes would benefit from this unit.
EDUC105 is offered in both semesters. In Semester 1 the unit is offered in day (D1) or external (X1) mode. D1 students are expected to attend lectures and compulsory weekly tutorials. Two complusory on campus days are offered to X1 students.
In semester 2 the unit (X2) is offered externally (via lecture tapes and online i-lecture mode).
X2 students must attend two compulsory on campus days. The unit program includes e-learning material and online assessment.
