EDUC353: Education in a Global Society |
This unit will examine the role of education in development. The links between economic and political arrangements, educational processes and educational outcomes will be analysed. At the international level trends towards globalisation will be considered with the focus on the changing relationship between education and development, particularly in Third World countries. At the national level account will be taken of cultural, residential, linguistic and ethnic distinctions. Asian, African and Pacific countries may be selected for particular study.
