ELS201: Introduction to Marine Science |
Field Excursion: 29 April-1 May
Understanding the marine environment requires a basic knowledge of biological, physical, geological and chemical processes and how they interact. Increasingly, it also encompasses an understanding of the way marine resources can be exploited, and sustainably managed. In this unit we examine the fundamental processes driving marine systems, following a natural progression starting with the marine geosphere, the marine hydrosphere, the marine biosphere and finishing with an overview of marine resources and conservation. There is a compulsory field excursion.
