JPN381: Advanced Japanese Language (1)

This unit should be taken by all students in Sequence A (see Programs of Study) for a coherent study in Japanese at 300 level. It is designed to advance skills in all areas of Japanese language. Text will be drawn from various genres and the unit will cover socio-linguistic aspects of Japanese communication including register, pragmatics and rhetorical conventions. Emphasis will be placed on the practical use of Japanese, both written and oral. Development of translation skills is also included in this unit.
