LAW432: Law and Religion

This unit will explore the intersections of law and religion especially in legal systems based upon the common law tradition. It will look at the impact of religious doctrine on the evolution of the common law system, with particular focus on issues on separation of church and state and freedom of religion. It will also explore particular areas of law, which have a specific religious content such as blasphemy, clergy confidentiality, charity, and aspects of life and death.
