PSY325: Principles and Applications of Learning |
This unit examines how people and animals learn, and how their behaviours are later changed as a result of this learning. The lectures will cover some of the more important principles with a strong emphasis on how they have been used in such applied fields as behaviour modification, decision making, social learning, the acquisition of "likes and dislikes", phobias, learned helplessness, and motor skills. The practical component of the unit allows you to apply these principles to your own behaviour in a self-regulation programme conducted throughout the semester. This programme will enable you to gain first-hand experience with the basic principles of behaviour change and goal setting which are fundamental to many areas of psychological practice.
Evening students will be able to obtain tapes of the lectures from the Centre for Open Education, but must attend the practicals/tutorials.
