CBMS305: Medical Microbiology |
This unit is concerned with the importance of microorganisms in medicine. Topics range from the role of the normal human micro-flora and the body's natural defences to the disease causing organisms and their epidemiology. The course covers medically important bacteria, protozoa, fungi and viruses. The weekly laboratory sessions provide students with the skills to handle microorganisms safely and demonstrate the techniques used to identify bacteria in a clinical
laboratory.
