COMP343: Cryptography and Information Security |
This unit provides an introduction to modern public-key cryptography. After a short mathematical introduction and a brief outline of major tasks and problems within modern cryptography, several classical constructions such as RSA, Diffie-Hellman, ElGamal and DSA will be discussed. These constructions are used as 'building blocks' for designing real communication protocols, that is, real-world applications. Various attacks on the above cryptographic constructions, and on protocols based on them, will be discussed.
