CUL203: Performance Studies I |
The main theme for performance exploration in this course is the cultural practice of everyday 'acting/performing' with a view toward a broader spectrum of performance. This unit examines the practices of contemporary performance work, identifying social and cultural issues and artists' strategies. The time spent in class will consist of approximately 50% production exercise, 30% production analysis, and 20% theoretical study. Students are expected to work in groups for the production exercise. The works produced by students are regarded as working models or prototypes for analysis and theoretical discussion.
