DEM256: Business Demographics |
This unit will appeal particularly to commerce students. It discusses the implications of demographic factors (for example, population distribution, age structure, labour force participation and ethnic composition) on the business environment and the use of demographics in marketing and other business decision-making. The main sources of such data are outlined and students are given hands-on experience of accessing and analysing census data at national, state and local levels. Some of the demographic techniques that are relevant to marketing/business studies are described. A segment of the unit is allocated to the methodology of sample surveys.
