DEM355: Social and Applied Demography |
This unit will appeal particularly to commerce and other social science students. It focuses on the strategic implications of demographic trends for business and government both in Australia and other countries, particularly other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. For example, the unit considers: the demographic, socio-economic and business consequences of immigration to Australia; the consequences of rapid population growth in less developed countries for child and maternal health and for the provision of education in these regions; and the implications of internal migration for the provision of schooling on the mid-north coasts of NSW.
