DEM356: Demographic Techniques |
This unit will appeal to the more quantitatively-oriented student. It aims to equip students with career-relevant demographic analytic skills and a thorough understanding of the dynamics of population change. Some of the more advanced demographic techniques discussed include testing the accuracy of demographic data and their graduation; methods of population projections at sub-national levels and for projecting households and families, multiple decrement tables and some relevant epidemiological techniques. Students will get hands-on experience of analysing Australian and international population data using a range of software packages.
