ECED886: Image, Text and the Child |
In this unit we will explore the meaning of visual texts for children, focusing particularly on the picture book. Initially the unit examines how children and childhood are represented in images throughout recent history. This provides a context for analysing images on page or screen using a variety of critical concepts. The relationship between theories of visual language and children's developing visual literacy will also be explored.
