ECHL211: Genres of Theatre |
This unit will examine a select number of significant historical theatre genres -- Ancient Greek theatre, Medieval Mystery plays, Commedia dell'arte, Shakespearean theatre and 18th Century French theatre. It will focus on both the social context of each genre, the performative elements and the styles of acting. The unit is delivered completely online. Students will have access to video material created specifically for the unit as well as readings, image banks and links to websites with relevant visual resources.
