FRN122: Introductory French I |
An introductory unit designed to develop skills in reading, writing, comprehension and speaking. The work is of an intensive nature and, in addition to the compulsory class hours, a cassette program and a workbook/laboratory manual provide students with extra material for written, oral and aural practice. Whenever possible, on-campus day students are divided into streams according to their previous study of French (if any); in this way, FRN122 caters for a range of abilities, from the total beginner through to the student who has completed School Certificate or equivalent. There will be an evening stream in 2007 and the unit may also be taken externally.
Whilst FRN122 may be taken as a unit in its own right, students intending to enter FRN226 Intermediate French I will be required to complete FRN123 Introductory French II and FRN125 Introductory French III.
