GEOS214: Climatic Impacts |
This unit comprehensively examines the issue of global climate change from scientific, social and political perspectives. It builds upon some of the issues raised in GEOS112 (for example, climate change and climate variability) and GEOS117. Focusing on these issues from the Australian and global perspectives, the causes, effects (such as on human health and ecosystems), and the social and policy issues raised by the impacts are all discussed at conceptual (rather than mathematical) levels. This unit is one of two 200 level atmospheric science units, the other being GEOS216 The Atmospheric Environment. It is also complementary to GEOS237 Natural Hazards.
For students with off-campus Internet access, this unit can be taken in external mode.
