This Unit offers an understanding of microorganisms in the context of human health. In the first module, the student is introduced to the world of microbial structure and function particularly in relation to their role in health and disease. The second module of basic immunology out lines the importance of nonspecific and specific (humoral and cellular) defence mechanisms of the human body.
