JPN116: Introduction to Japanese Writing for Kanji Background Learners |
This unit is specifically designed for students who have previous experience with the writing of Kanji as Chinese characters but have not formally studied Japanese script. Students will be systematically introduced firstly to Hiragana and Katakana scripts and then to Kanji. Students will learn to read and write about 100 basic Japanese Kanji characters. This unit also aims at facilitating the transition from knowledge of Chinese characters (in Chinese or other non-Japanese context) to Kanji in the Japanese language context. JPN110 is a co-requisite for this unit.
