JPN290: Intermediate Japanese Reading Unit |

A long vacation reading unit intended for students who have completed JPN222 Japanese Language II (2). It is designed to further students' reading skills in Japanese as well as expanding their knowledge of contemporary Japanese society and culture. Assessment will be based on a 2-hour examination in January, which includes an English essay on Japanese literature, comprehension of the assigned reading passages and a short composition (in Japanese)

This unit consists of two weeks of Japanese language and cultural study in Japan during the long summer vacation in December. Students will undertake an intensive language study at Ehime University, staying in the dormitory on weekdays and in Japanese homes for the weekend. Students are recommended to take JPN214 prior to taking this unit.
