LAW410: International Trade and Finance

The legal regime governing the international exchange of goods, services and capital is the subject matter of the unit. The interaction of trade and monetary issues and the interplay of law, politics and diplomacy in regulating these issues will be highlighted and commented upon. Topics in the main include: international legal framework for trade and finance; institutional, structural and transactional aspects of international trade and financing; impact of national foreign and trade policies on world trading activities; trade as a political issue; the North-South tensions; role and interest of Australia as a trading nation; dispute resolution; and ethical and environmental aspects of international trade.
