LING968: Computer-Mediated Communication in Second Language Acquisition |
This unit will introduce students to the application of computer-mediated communication (CMC) in second language acquisition. The unit will explore asynchronous communication by email and bulletin boards as well as synchronous communication via chatlines and within MOO (multi-user domains, object-oriented) environments. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of CMC in intercultural learning processes. Asssessment will be ongoing and it will include practical as well as more theoretical components.
