MAS810: Telecommunications and World Order

This unit surveys the increased importance of telecommunications technologies and industries in light of competing notions of world order and the role of citizens. The social and economic impact of global information structures will be canvassed in respect of developed and developing countries, including issues of universal service and the regulatory capacities of nation states and international agencies.
