MCSI360: Economics, Theology and Altruism |
(WV Session dates: 2 July -15 October)
Economics is seldom understood to be a discipline with religious underpinnings, and yet economic theories and practice are laden with prior values commitments. This unit seeks to make explicit the links between economics and a religious view of life, to identify areas of consonance and dissonance, and to highlight important themes from Christian theology that have bearing on economic issues. These broad perspectives will then be applied to consideration of the nature of altruism.
