PHYS220: Scientific Modelling |
This unit introduces students to scientific modelling and applications in a wide range of disciplines. Students will learn to apply computer modelling and simulation packages and be introduced to a variety of techniques such as matrix methods, finite differencing and the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations. The emphasis is on learning through applications, including heat diffusion, chaos, oscillating chemical reactions, the solar wind, conservation of marine turtles, and traffic flow.
