PSY105: Introduction to Psychology II |
This unit examines development of the individual across the life-span, how we and other animals react to sensory stimuli, learn and remember, reason, communicate and interact in a variety of social situations. As with Introduction to Psychology I, this unit conveys information about substantive material, methods of inquiry, and assumptions of theory associated with the science and profession of psychology through lecture, tutorial, and practical classes. The relevance of the discipline of psychology to understanding behaviour and experience in everyday life is emphasised.
Note: (a) Students who do not feel confident about their basic mathematical ability are advised to attempt STAT170 Introductory Statistics as a full-year unit rather than as a half-year unit. (b) The corequisite unit assumes that students will have a basic background in arithmetic and algebra; any students without this background are advised to remedy their deficiency by private study of basic mathematical operations before commencement of the unit.
Evening students will be able to obtain tapes of the lectures from the Centre for Open Education, but must attend practical sessions.
