PSY305: Personality |
In this unit we look at theories and research that enable us to explore what is shared about personality, and what is unique to a person. We look at the developmental underpinnings of personality and features of our temperament that contribute to a person having a particular personality style. We explore some personalities with unusual affectives styles such as narcissistic, Machiavellian and psychopathic personalities as case studies of how early influences can have knock-on effects in later development. Personality emerges as a dynamic system of adaptation, and we consider optimal ways of researching and working with particular personality styles, including exploring the possibilities for personal change. Seminars permit specialisation in practical, theoretical and research issues.
