SLS300: Slavonic Literature in Translation |
Pre-twentieth- and twentieth-century literary works are read in translation. Primary attention will be given to the symbolist and modernist trends in Slavonic narrative prose of roughly the first quarter of the twentieth century. Authors such as Chekhov, Hasek, Gombrowicz, Krleza, and Kotsiubynsky will be studied. All students with an interest in Slavonic literature are welcome in this unit, for which no knowledge of Slavonic languages is required.
