(V2 Session dates: December 2007 - February 2008)
This unit provides you with an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience undertaking applied or policy related research while working in a social research team or a community research setting. A practical supervised research placement, supported by on-campus workshops, gives you an opportunity to undertake social research first hand and gain valuable professional experience. As well, it will encourage you to exercise creative thinking and problem solving, while developing personal confidence and professional contacts.
The internship will usually be undertaken one or more days a week over a semester, but may, in some cases, be undertaken as a block. Placements are organised for you, in a community service agency, a commercial social research company, in state or local government, or in an academic research setting. The unit is open to all social science, arts, creative arts, media, business, health and other students who have completed SOC234 and who are nearing the end of their degrees.
