SOC361: Justice, Discipline and Punishment |
This course will examine theories and practices of punishment in historical and contemporary settings. Through considering the breadth of theoretical literature on punishment, students will be encouraged to develop a critique of current practices and ideology. Race, gender and class will be considered throughout to reflect on the limitations of 'justice' in any system of discipline or punishment.
