SOC818: Evaluation and the Policy Process |
Evaluation has become increasingly central to the process of policy development at Local, State and Federal levels of government. It is also a key element in the piloting and embedding of innovations in NGOs and market based organisations. This unit is designed to introduce you to the principal and most influential approaches to program evaluation, in order to support you in commissioning, undertaking or using evaluations. It will enable you to develop and assess program evaluations, as well develop an awareness in the politics and ethics involved in evaluation. In this unit you will also consider the often controversial history of program evaluation and learn to identify the factors which shape the importance of evaluation in relation to the other components of the policy process.
