SOC848: Crime Research and Policy

In liberal democracies of the twenty-first century, welfare policies emphasising the rights of claimants are increasingly being replaced by punitive policies based on policing and penal punishment. Drawing on a variety of approaches to criminological research, this course examines changing approaches to justice, discipline and punishment in historical and contemporary settings.
