CBMS875: Cell and Developmental Biology

This unit focuses on contemporary molecular aspects of cellular structure and function, as well as multicellular development. The first part of the unit looks at the molecular basis of cellular architecture (eg cell membranes and the cytoskeleton) and functions (eg molecular transport, signalling and the cell cycle). In the second part, topics on the principles that govern multicellular development will be explored. These lectures concentrate on some well-known model organisms that are used in developmental biology. The practical sessions emphasise common techniques used in cell and developmental biology.
