GSE846: Heritage Interpretation and Communication

This unit provides a broad introduction to interpretive principles, planning, practice and evaluation, including an assessment of the characteristics, opportunities, constraints and issues associated with various interpretive modes. There is a particular focus on developing a range of specific skills associated with best practice in interpretation and communication of natural and cultural heritage. The role and value of interpretation is considered from the viewpoint of both managers and visitors, and its place both in environmental management and as a key methodology within environmental education contributing towards sustainability is evaluated.
