INTS301: Policy-making in a Global Era

The nation-state, the dominant form of political organisation for four centuries, is said to be under threat from global organisations, not just of legitimate business and the emerging international polity but from new forms of organisation that promote crime and terror. The unit examines the policy-making capacities of the states of the First and Third Worlds in assessing critically the undoubted challenges faced by governments everywhere in their pursuit of political values and economic outcomes. The relationship between 'political systems' and 'policy systems' is central to the unit.
