JPN250: Modern Japanese Society |
This unit examines and analyses contemporary Japanese society. It looks at the social and historical issues that have taken place in modern Japan, particularly since the period of high economic growth, and its effects on modern Japanese society. It is conducted mainly in English, however, students are encouraged to have a keen interest in Japanese society as well as Japanese language. Knowledge of Japanese language is not required for this unit. Most of the topics in this unit will be examined and discussed from the viewpoints of minorities in modern Japanese society.
