MCSI302: Pop Culture: Christian Perspectives |
This unit offers an appreciation and critique of various aspects of popular culture, especially film and television, from a biblically-informed point of view. The unit will seek to identify and discuss fundamental motifs in popular culture, such as its views of human nature and alienation, good and evil, law and order, transcendence and the everyday, justice and redemption, love and community, and visions of the future. The unit also explores the impact of popular culture upon people's worldviews and values, and suggests ways in which people of faith can become active shapers as well as consumers of popular culture.
