POD804: Podiatric Biomechanics |
This unit will provide the student with fundamental skills in theoretical and clinically relevant biomechanics. It will encompass areas of measurement techniques: use of measurement tools, prescription interpretation and analysis, evaluation of the negative and positive cast. Impression techniques: techniques of semi- and non-weight bearing casting, use of impression materials and plaster. Manufacturing techniques: cast modification, use of electrical equipment, equipment safety, thermoplastics manufacture, heel posting techniques, moulded insoles, triplane wedges, other in-shoe modifications. Problem solving and intervention techniques. Education techniques and resources in orthoses development.
