RSN305: Women in Russian Culture |
This course will examine the chronological narrative of women's experiences in Russia from the seventeenth century to the present. We will cover topics including diversity of women's lives, detailing how women of various social strata were affected by and shaped historical change, and how women's lives are connected with broader cultural, social, and political transformations. We will pay particular attention to the ability of women to exceed or alter restrictions upon their expected role in society. Students will be able to use a bulletin board for discussions with a unit convener and other students. There are regular consultation hours for external students via a phone and on campus.
